Rain Delay - Still in Talkeetna

April and Bobby are still waiting in Talkeetna for the weather to clear. There isn’t much to do while
waiting around the airport in this small Alaskan town. They had to check out of their room and won’t
check back in until they are told the airport is closing for the night. There is no cutoff time for flying;
rather it is dependent upon the weather and pilot fatigue. Since it doesn’t get dark, loss of daylight is
not a factor.

Though they are anxious to get to the glacier, they have a pleasant upside to this delay. April’s close
friends from her childhood in Cheshire, who moved to Arizona years ago, saw the blog and contacted
her because they are in Alaska with an almost identical itinerary for the past few days. They arrive
in Talkeetna tonight from Anchorage and then on to Denali (not to climb it!) on Wednesday. They are
hoping to get together tonight if April and Bobby are still grounded. Imagine, they haven’t seen each
other in years, and they meet in Alaska!

Here is a picture of the airplane that will bring them to the glacier.  I wonder since it is on skies if it is a smoother landing than landing on a paved runway.  :-)    Anyone ever been on this type of plane before?
